Changes in Drug Store Business Model Mean Opportunity
With supermarkets and mass merchandisers increasingly crowding the traditional drug store market space, who can blame operators for looking toward a changed business model?
A recent Wall Street Journal report highlights some of the changes Walgreen is making to position itself as an industry leader for the future.
These changes include:
- Establishing Take Care Health Clinics which operate inside the store
- Expanding its capabilities to administer immunizations
- Operating specialty pharmacies to serve patients with high-maintenance, high-cost medical conditions such as cancer and AIDS.
Business changes such as these are often copied by competitors and usually accompanied by the need for new marketing programs. Have you looked into the future business plans of your drug store clients?
